President & Chair
Partner in Pacific Surgical Holdings Ltd., Patrick serves as president of its Keir Surgical division. Keir Surgical is a Canadian distributor of surgical products, with a speciality in surgical instruments. Patrick has B.Sc. in Genetics from the University of Alberta and an MBA granted jointly from Queen’s University and Cornell University. He is involved in provincial and federal politics as a volunteer at the riding level and serves as an alumni volunteer for his university fraternity. Patrick is active in sports and enjoys spending his spare time along with his wife Sandra and two boys at their cottage on the BC Sunshine Coast.
Johanna is an accomplished sales and training professional with 25+ years of experience planning, developing and implementing sales training programs. In her current role as Canadian Strategic Sales Manager with SAGE Publications, she and her team place a strong emphasis on meeting sales and editorial objectives, and earning customer confidence. Passions outside of work include creating public awareness around Hemochromatosis, volunteering, global travel, road cycling, curling, golf, skiing, gardening, reading and consumption of fine wines.
As Vice President Western Canada for Invetment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC), Warren Funt is responsible for all of IIROC’s regulatory operations West of Ontario. Warren directs all aspects of dealer and market regulation operations (Financial Operations Compliance, Business Conduct Compliance, Registration, Enforcement, Investigations, Surveillance and Trading Conduct).
Prior to joining IIROC’s predecessor organization, the Investment Dealers Association in 2000, Warren worked with the Vancouver Stock Exchange (VSE), for 13 years holding various senior positions in trading, surveillance, compliance and corporate finance.
Warren spent eight years in the securities industry as an Investment Advisor before joining the VSE. He has a Bachelor of Arts, concentrating in International Relations, from the University of British Columbia and a Masters of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University.
He has served on the Board of the International Financial Centre of BC, BC’s Auditors Certification Board and St. John’s School.
Mark is a Chartered Accountant working within a Canadian top 10 accounting practice. He has 10 years experience providing accounting services in Europe, Asia and North America. Mark lives in Vancouver and is a keen hiker, runner and skier.

Stephen is an actuarial analyst in the pension department of the consulting company Morneau Shepell, and is currently completing exams to become a fully qualified actuary.
King City, ON
Ian graduated in Pharmacy from the University of Bradford. He has over 30 years experience working in global pharmaceutical companies. Most recently he was VP Government Affairs and Market Access for Mylan Pharmaceuticals. Ian is known as a speaker at industry conferences. He is a board member at CHATS (Community and Home Assistance to Seniors), York Region, Ontario.
Ian lives in King City with his wonderful spouse and daughters. Ian is a keen fan of cycling and soccer.
Dr. Sam Krikler
Dr. Samuel Krikler is Medical Director of the Clinical Laboratory at Surrey Memorial Hospital. He is a hematopathologist with a long standing interest in Hereditary Hemochromatosis.
Dr. Krikler’s research is community based and recently it has focused on non-HFE iron overload in the Mennonite community residing in the Fraser Valley. Dr. Krikler helped to develop the provincial guideline for the investigation and management of iron overload. He is a Clinical Associate Professor within the UBC Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
David has enjoyed an extensive international business career in maritime transportation and information technology including positions as CEO at Rydex Communications and Executive VP and COO at Klein Systems Group. He has served as a Director of the St. George’s School Foundation and the Vancouver Maritime Arbitrators Association and has a B Comm in Transportation and Finance from UBC.
Big Pond, NS
Gordon is a co-owner and director of Copol International Ltd, an extruder of polypropylene film, in North Sydney, NS. Gordon has been removed from the daily activities of the company for 12 years and spends his time travelling and volunteering with local organizations. He lives in Nova Scotia in the summer and Florida in the winter.
Dr. Carlyn Volume-Smith
Sherwood Park, AB
Dr. Carlyn Volume-Smith is a licensed pharmacist who possesses a Master of Science degree in Health Promotion and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences. As Senior Manager, Benefit Services, for Alberta Blue Cross, Carlyn is responsible for departments that adjudicate extended health, travel, dental and drug claims for Alberta Blue Cross benefit plans. She works closely with a Ministerial advisory committee that provides advice on drug formulary coverage.

Jean-François Granger graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce and then obtained a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Université de Montéal’s HEC. He has over 20 years of experience in the medical/surgical industry and currently holds the position of General Manager at Galen Medical Ltd.
Jean-Francois lives in Montréal and has a daughter. He enjoys skiing, fishing and golfing.
Geneviève has a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Manchester. Currently a Business Analyst at Héma-Quebec, Genevieve has over 10 years experience in research and consultancy, mostly in the healthcare sector. She has collaborated on numerous articles, presentations and workshops about doctor-patient communication, patient literacy and countering ageism.
