Hi Folks,

Just received results of my second test for Ferritin levels as my doctor here in Vancouver was surprised to find my first test results for Ferritin at 1408.

The second test results were:

Ferritin 1395
Saturation 30%

So my GP has recommended me to an Internist for further investigation as my GP believes that I am not a classic HH candidate and not of Northern European descent.

I have been a gout sufferer since I was 30 yrs of age as I am now 48. I don't drink alcohol at all as I am allergic to it. I do take NSAIDS such as Voltaren or Arthrotec to control inflammation as I am also allergic to the maintenance meds for gout - Allopurinol.

Other results higher than normal:

Urea 7.7 (2.5-7.0)
Uric Acid 542 (234-529)
Gamma GT 75 (10-58
Cholesterol 6.76 (2.0-5.19)
Chol/HDL 6.38 (<4.9)
Triglycerides 5.29 (0.45-2.29)

Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Some liver disorders can cause your saturation appear normal.
This link is to a CDC website for traninig MDs

*Note: Patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis can exhibit normal TS but may exhibit elevated SF.
