National Blood Donor Week

Posted June 9th, 2014 by webadmin

June 8 – 14 marks National Blood Donor Week. This year, Canadian Blood Services celebrates with the theme Blood – a family portrait. Blood bonds family members together, and by donating your blood today, you are sharing your family bond with patients across the country and in turn giving them more time to spend with their families.

National Blood Donor Week is also a time to thank the many Canadians who helped save lives this past year. Canadian Blood Services thanks  the more than 420,000 blood donors for being part of Canada’s family portrait. Here at the Canadian Hemochromatosis Society, we would like to thank and congratulate our Partners for Life group members who so far have contributed more than 111 donations this year. We still have a long way to meet our goal of 400 donations by the end of 2014, so we invite all of the Society’s members, supporters, volunteers and partners  to be a part of Canada’s family portrait by making blood donation a family tradition. Rally your family and friends – plan a reunion at a blood donor clinic this summer and inspire your loved ones to save more lives with you.

To donate, check your eligibility, then call 1 888 2 DONATE to book your appointment. Remember to register yourself with the Canadian Hemochromatosis Society’s Partners for Life group at www.blood.ca/joinpartnersforlife and use ID number CANA002257 (four letters, six numbers). Register once and all donations made at any Canadian Blood Services donor clinic will be tracked toward the hemochromatosis group. Any donations already made in 2014 will be counted retroactively to January 1, 2014.

Share who inspired you to become part of the family portrait by using #families4blood on social media, and invite others to join Canadian Blood Services’ donor family.
