National Board of Directors
The Canadian Hemochromatosis Society is Canada’s not for profit agency that is driven to end suffering and premature death related to hereditary hemochromatosis. We provide awareness and information to support our fellow Canadians diagnosed with this very common genetic disorder commonly called the “Celtic Curse” or “iron overload”.
We are seeking candidates to serve on the National Board of Directors. You do not have to have hereditary hemochromatosis to become a Board Director.
Roles and responsibilities of a Director:
- Be or become a member of CHS; participate in regular board meetings and on operational committees; help renew our strategic plan
- Be committed to develop an understanding of hereditary hemochromatosis to help your performance in your role
Experience & skills which would add value to CHS:
- Financial management
- Communications, marketing, public relations and media relations
- Internet marketing, advertising and social networking
- Fundraising
- Senior management experience in private or public sector
- Professional medical and healthcare experience
The initial term for a director of the board of CHS is two years.
We have a need for applicants from British Columbia in particular.
CHS will add new directors at its AGM in June.

Conseil d’administration de la Société canadienne de l’hémochromatose
La Société canadienne de l’hémochromatose (SCH) l’organisme sans but lucratif du Canada qui vise à mettre fin aux souffrances et aux décès prématurés liés à l’hémochromatose héréditaire. Nous offrons de la sensibilisation et de l’information pour aider nos concitoyens canadiens atteints de cette condition génétique très répandue, communément appelée la « malédiction celtique » ou « surcharge en fer ».
Vous n’avez pas besoin d’avoir la condition de l’hémochromatose héréditaire pour devenir directeur.
Rôles et responsabilités du directeur ou de la directrice :
- Être ou devenir membre de la SCH; participer aux réunions régulières du conseil d’administration et sur les comités opérationnels; aider à renouveler notre plan stratégique
- S’engager à développer une compréhension de HH pour aider votre performance dans votre rôle
Expérience de travail et compétences qui ajouteraient de la valeur à la SCH :
- Gestion financière
- Communications, marketing, relations publiques et relations avec les médias
- Marketing Internet, publicité et réseaux sociaux
- Levées de fonds
- Expérience de haute direction dans le secteur privé ou public
- Professionnels de la santé et de la santé
Le mandat initial d’un directeur ou directrice du conseil d’administration de la SCH est de deux ans.
Nous avons besoin de candidat(e)s de la Colombie-Britannique en particulier.
La SCH ajoutera de nouveaux administrateurs à son AGA en juin.
