Hemochromatosis on the Hill 2018

Posted May 29th, 2018 by Canadian Hemochromatosis Society

The Ottawa skies were overcast as Canadian Hemochromatosis Society volunteers from Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa converged on Parliament Hill on May 22. The rain held off, and the day went smoothly, with volunteers touring the buildings, attending a Senate sitting where hemochromatosis champion Senator David Wells made a statement in the Chamber announcing Hemochromatosis Awareness Month (and MP Karen Vecchio provided a similar statement in the House),  and co-hosting an evening reception with Senator Wells for invited MPs and Senators to promote awareness of the disorder.

We acknowledge and thank the following Senators and MPs and their staff for attending this event, hearing the stories shared by hemochromatosis sufferers, and sharing our message of awareness with their constituents.
