Are you looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of Canadians? We are seeking multiple motivated and passionate candidates to join like-minded volunteers on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Hemochromatosis Society. We have a need for applicants from British Columbia in particular.

The Canadian Hemochromatosis Society is a national organization with a mission to strengthen the well-being of Canadians affected by iron overload through its programs designed to foster awareness and early detection of hemochromatosis. The Canadian Hemochromatosis Society is seeking dedicated leaders residing in BC to fill the roles of Directors at Large on its volunteer Board of Directors. The individuals will fill current vacancies and will stand for election onto the board at the next AGM, after which the two-year term will begin, renewable up to three terms. Average volunteer time is 8 hours per month.

Directors at Large Duties & Responsibilities:

• Be or become a member of the Canadian Hemochromatosis Society
• Learn the organization’s mission, vision, programs, and needs
• Understand your fiduciary responsibility as a Director
• Serve as an ambassador of the organization
• Promote awareness of the Canadian Hemochromatosis Society and hereditary hemochromatosis within your network and your community
• Support access to financial resources and partnerships that will help further the mission of the organization
• Attend and fully participate in board meetings, held once every one to two months using online meeting software
• Participate in operational committees related to projects and programs using online meeting software
• Be committed to develop an understanding of hereditary hemochromatosis to help your performance in your role

Experience & skills which would add value to the Canadian Hemochromatosis Society:

• Financial management
• Communications, marketing, public relations and media relations
• Internet marketing, advertising and social networking
• Fundraising
• Senior management experience in private or public sector
• Professional medical and healthcare experience
