Ian graduated in Pharmacy from the University of Bradford. He has over 30 years experience working in global pharmaceutical companies. Most recently he was VP Government Affairs and Market Access for Mylan Pharmaceuticals. Ian is known as a speaker at industry conferences. He is a board member at CHATS (Community and Home Assistance to Seniors), York Region, Ontario.
Ian lives in King City with his wonderful spouse and daughters. Ian is a keen fan of cycling and soccer.
Dr. Carlyn Volume-Smith
Sherwood Park, AB
Dr. Carlyn Volume-Smith is a licensed pharmacist who possesses a Master of Science degree in Health Promotion and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences. As Senior Manager, Benefit Services, for Alberta Blue Cross, Carlyn is responsible for departments that adjudicate extended health, travel, dental and drug claims for Alberta Blue Cross benefit plans. She works closely with a Ministerial advisory committee that provides advice on drug formulary coverage.
Mark is a Chartered Accountant working within a Canadian top 10 accounting practice. He has 10 years experience providing accounting services in Europe, Asia and North America. Mark lives in Vancouver and is a keen hiker, runner and skier.
White Rock, BC
Ray is a medical graduate from Queen’s University, Belfast, and spent his career working in clinical research for a multinational pharma company, first as medical director and then VP Scientific Affairs of their Canadian subsidiary, followed by international assignments as Asian Regional Medical Director based in Singapore, then Clinical Research Director of a newly created Clinical Research Unit for Greater China and Korea, based in Shanghai. Ray retired in 2008 following a final assignment in Sweden, working on optimizing geographic placement of clinical research resources across developed and developing countries. Since retiring to White Rock BC, Ray has been an active member of the White Rock Elks Lodge where he is Publicity Director and webmaster, and helps organize the city’s annual Irish Festival. Ray and his wife enjoy making music, and providing musical entertainment for seniors.

Steve Mitchell has 35 years experience as a communications professional with major Canadian companies and is an independent communications consultant. He is currently Senior Strategic Communications Advisor to Kinross Gold Corporation, the world’s fifth largest gold producer.

Partner in Pacific Surgical Holdings Ltd., Patrick serves as president of its Keir Surgical division. Keir Surgical is a Canadian distributor of surgical products, with a speciality in surgical instruments. Patrick has B.Sc. in Genetics from the University of Alberta and an MBA granted jointly from Queen’s University and Cornell University. He is involved in provincial and federal politics as a volunteer at the riding level and serves as an alumni volunteer for his university fraternity. Patrick is active in sports and enjoys spending his spare time along with his wife Sandra and two boys at their cottage on the BC Sunshine Coast.
Big Pond, NS
Gordon is a co-owner and director of Copol International Ltd, an extruder of polypropylene film, in North Sydney, NS. Gordon has been removed from the daily activities of the company for 12 years and spends his time travelling and volunteering with local organizations. He lives in Nova Scotia in the summer and Florida in the winter.
Jean-François Granger graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce and then obtained a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Université de Montéal’s HEC. He has over 20 years of experience in the medical/surgical industry and currently holds the position of General Manager at Galen Medical Ltd.
Jean-Francois lives in Montréal and has a daughter. He enjoys skiing, fishing and golfing.
Geneviève has a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Manchester. Currently a Business Analyst at Héma-Quebec, Genevieve has over 10 years experience in research and consultancy, mostly in the healthcare sector. She has collaborated on numerous articles, presentations and workshops about doctor-patient communication, patient literacy and countering ageism.
